G-Stove

We are in love with the g-stove! For those of you that have one… bet you LOVE it and for those considering a stove, get the g-stove, it is a purchase you will not regret.

It is so versatile, use it just under a tarp for camp cooking or in a shed, cottage or yes a tent!

This powerful little stove has many options too … you can buy the heat or the heat and view which has a little glass window, there is the XL heat and an XL heat and view too.

In the photos below you can see the pipe sections they come with, these sections all pack into the Gstove.

Add on a pipe oven which by the way is simply fantastic and cooking in the pipe oven is great.

The pipe oven comes in two models, one that just has a solid door and the premium version that has a glass viewing piece and a thermometer so all depending how fancy you want to be 🙂

More info on the Gstove or to purchase.

We have been trying out different recipes in the oven and so far we have had so much success. We have made lasagna which is to die for, apple pie… YES nothing better than having luxury food while camping YAY…  We have done quiche and pizza rolls. So much still to try and we keep you all updated as we go along.

Check out this video below too!

Honestly we have used our Gstove now for a couple of years and it still works as beautifully as ever not to mention the quality of this stove is second to none!

A few accesorries for the stove in pics here. Go to http://www.wildcoasttents.com for more info and to purchase if you are in Canada or USA

Dutch oven Lasagne

This was a first for me making lasagne at a campsite from scratch. I was browsing blogs and came across “dirty gourmet” and their skillet lasagne. Knowing how my hubbie loves lasagne I though it would be a real treat to make this while camping and try it on our frontier stove! So while my hubbie tended a nice fire in the frontier stove for me….I chopped my onions, peppers and mushrooms, added hot chili flakes, black pepper and  garlic. I browned this in the bottom of the Dutch oven on the frontier stove added the highland ground beef and browned that nicely, then added the crushed tomatoes and some tomato paste. IMG_2386

I let this simmer for a while and enjoyed a glass of wine – more like a plastic glass of wine :-),  then removed my Dutch oven and put the sauce contents into another bowl.

I then started to layer the no boil lasagne strips with the sauce, a layer of fresh spinach leaves, a layer grated  Italian cheese until the sauce was finished and then finished off with a final layer of extra cheese….. hmm nice and fattening to boot 🙂

I then put the lid on the Dutch oven and let it simmer very gently on the frontier stove for about 30 mins just until the noodles were soft.

I took it off and let it sit a while for the sauce to thicken up and viola the best lasagne camping ever!!

So easy to do and so tasty I will defiantly try this again using different variations. thank you dirty gourmet for the wonderful inspiring idea!!
